France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main destinations of canned food exports from Germany, together accounting for 34% of total exports. Austria, Poland, Italy, Denmark, Spain, Belgium, the Czech Republic, China, Switzerland and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 43%.
From 2012 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +27.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for canned food exported from Germany were France ($X), the UK ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 33% share of total exports. China, Austria, Denmark, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Spain, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 45%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 6.2% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2020.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 7.9% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Italy (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of canned food imports to Germany, with a combined 46% share of total imports. France, Poland, Hungary, Belgium, Spain, Austria, China, Greece, Thailand and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
