Imines Market Size in Germany

In 2021, the German imines market increased by 45% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a abrupt setback. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imines Production in Germany

In value terms, imines production contracted dramatically to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 117% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof, when their volume increased by 12% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports recorded a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 65%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imines exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 124%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for imines exports from Germany, with a 28% share of total exports. Moreover, imines exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by China (X tons), with a 5.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States stood at +4.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+16.2% per year) and China (+24.9% per year).

In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for imines and their derivatives and salts thereof exports from Germany, comprising 21% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 7.2% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 5.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States amounted to +4.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+12.6% per year) and the UK (+2.7% per year).

The average imines export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 5.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a modest expansion. For the fourth consecutive year, Germany recorded growth in purchases abroad of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof, which increased by 23% to X tons in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imines imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +14.3% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

India (X tons), China (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of imines imports to Germany, with a combined 67% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Indonesia, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Norway, Belgium, Lithuania, Slovakia, Sweden and Spain, which together accounted for a further 29%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +106.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, India ($X), China ($X) and France ($X) were the largest imines suppliers to Germany, with a combined 60% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Indonesia, the Czech Republic, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Lithuania and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 33%.

Indonesia, with a CAGR of +91.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average imines import price amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 42% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+24.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
