Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a perceptible contraction. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, monophenols exports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The UK (X tons) was the main destination for monophenols exports from Germany, with a 17% share of total exports. Moreover, monophenols exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Belgium (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Netherlands (X tons), with an 8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the UK amounted to +2.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (+2.6% per year) and the Netherlands (-3.4% per year).
In value terms, the UK ($X), China ($X) and Japan ($X) were the largest markets for monophenols exported from Germany worldwide, with a combined 31% share of total exports. South Korea, India, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, the United States, Italy, Switzerland and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 51%.
Among the main countries of destination, India, with a CAGR of +13.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average monophenols export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 9.7% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Germany
After three years of decline, supplies from abroad of monophenols increased by 37% to X tons in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, monophenols imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest monophenols supplier to Germany, with a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, monophenols imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Netherlands (X tons), with a 7.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Belgium stood at +3.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+23.7% per year) and the Netherlands (+1.1% per year).
In value terms, Belgium ($X) constituted the largest supplier of monophenols to Germany, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Switzerland ($X), with a 9.4% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Belgium amounted to +1.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Switzerland (+1.1% per year) and the Netherlands (-0.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average monophenols import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 40% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 45%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the price for the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Finland (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
