Memories Market Size in Germany

After two years of decline, the German memories market increased by 20% to $X in 2021. Overall, consumption, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage. Memories consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The exports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, memories exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -26.3% against 2018 indices. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

China (X units), France (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) were the main destinations of memories exports from Germany, together accounting for 40% of total exports. Italy, Poland, Hungary, Romania, the Netherlands, Russia, Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, Slovakia and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 43%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +23.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), France ($X) and Hungary ($X) constituted the largest markets for memories exported from Germany worldwide, together accounting for 33% of total exports. Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, China, Romania, Hong Kong SAR, Austria, Russia and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.

Slovakia, with a CAGR of +18.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average memories export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 9.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
