The export price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In value terms, non-medical x-ray imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Malaysia (X tons) constituted the largest non-medical x-ray supplier to Germany, accounting for a 31% share of total imports. Moreover, non-medical x-ray imports from Malaysia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), threefold. The UK (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.2% share.
