There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Austria ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Oxygen imports into Germany shrank to X cubic meters in 2022, dropping by -6.4% against 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X cubic meters in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, oxygen imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, France (X cubic meters) constituted the largest supplier of oxygen to Germany, accounting for a 61% share of total imports. Moreover, oxygen imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Austria (X cubic meters), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Czech Republic (X cubic meters), with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from France was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Austria (+6.5% per year) and the Czech Republic (-10.2% per year).
In value terms, France ($X) constituted the largest supplier of oxygen to Germany, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Switzerland ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Austria, with a 9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from France totaled +1.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Switzerland (+13.0% per year) and Austria (+5.7% per year).

In 2022, the average oxygen import price amounted to $X per cubic meter, growing by 15% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Austria ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
