Austria (X tons), Switzerland (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of parachute exports from Germany, together accounting for 34% of total exports. These countries were followed by France, Thailand, Japan, the UK, Bulgaria, Italy, Hong Kong SAR, Poland, Turkey and Romania, which together accounted for a further 41%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +75.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Austria ($X), Switzerland ($X) and the UK ($X) were the largest markets for parachute exported from Germany worldwide, with a combined 40% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Japan, France, Thailand, Italy, Hong Kong SAR, Turkey, Poland, Bulgaria and Romania, which together accounted for a further 39%.

Among the main countries of destination, Thailand, with a CAGR of +72.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average parachute export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 5% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 21%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

After three years of decline, supplies from abroad of parachutes and rotochutes increased by 31% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt decline. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, parachute imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Sri Lanka (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of parachute imports to Germany, with a combined 58% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +109.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest parachute suppliers to Germany were Thailand ($X), Sri Lanka ($X) and the United States ($X), together accounting for 55% of total imports.

Thailand, with a CAGR of +110.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, import price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, parachute import price increased by +55.2% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 27%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while the price for Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
