The German dry peas market dropped to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -6.9% against the previous year. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, dry peas exports stood at $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +53.3% against 2018 indices. The Netherlands (X tons) was the main destination for dry peas exports from Germany, accounting for a 52% share of total exports. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 113% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, dry peas imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 86%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) were the main suppliers of dry peas imports to Germany, with a combined 46% share of total imports. Russia, Latvia, the Netherlands, Estonia, France, Canada and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 48%.

The average dry peas import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 15%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
