The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +27.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

Poland (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of gouges and chisels exports from Germany, with a combined 32% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +18.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 45%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest gouges and chisels supplier to Germany, accounting for a 70% share of total imports. From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +8.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Switzerland (+1.8% per year) and the UK (+25.2% per year).
