Explosives Market Size in Germany

In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in the German explosives market, when its value decreased by -14.3% to $X. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a noticeable expansion. Explosives consumption peaked at $X in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, explosives production amounted to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Exports from Germany

In 2019, the amount of prepared explosives exported from Germany reduced modestly to X tons, dropping by -3.7% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 4% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2019, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, the amount of prepared explosives imported into Germany rose markedly to X tons, with an increase of 6.4% compared with the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, explosives imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Poland (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of explosives imports to Germany, with a combined 90% share of total imports.
