The Czech Republic (X tons), Israel (X tons) and Romania (X tons) were the main destinations of self-propelled railway coach exports from Germany, with a combined 58% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Russia, Denmark, Mexico, Turkey and the UK, which together accounted for a further 41%.

Imports into Germany
In 2021, the amount of railway or tramway coaches (self-propelled) imported into Germany declined notably to X tons, falling by -26.2% against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 120%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, self-propelled railway coach imports shrank notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 123% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Austria (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Switzerland (X tons) were the main suppliers of self-propelled railway coach imports to Germany, with a combined 86% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Serbia and Spain, which together accounted for a further 14%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Serbia (with a CAGR of +1,790.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Austria ($X), Poland ($X) and Switzerland ($X) were the largest self-propelled railway coach suppliers to Germany, together comprising 85% of total imports. Serbia and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.
