Rice Market Size in Germany

In 2021, after three years of growth, there was decline in the German rice market, when its value decreased by -3.6% to $X. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Poland (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main destinations of rice exports from Germany, with a combined 43% share of total exports. Denmark, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Slovakia and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 48%.

Overall, export price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, rice export price increased by +96.8% against 2016 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 22%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.
