Poland (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main destinations of rice exports from Germany, with a combined 43% share of total exports. Denmark, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Slovakia and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 48%.

The average rice export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 30% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, rice export price increased by +96.8% against 2016 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Germany
In 2021, approx. X tons of rice were imported into Germany; which is down by -13.6% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 14%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, rice imports shrank to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 22%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.

Italy (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of rice imports to Germany, together accounting for 75% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +12.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
