Safflower Seed Market Size in Germany

In 2022, the German safflower seed market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Belgium (X tons) was the main destination for safflower seed exports from Germany, accounting for a 88% share of total exports. Moreover, safflower seed exports to Belgium exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tons), more than tenfold.

In 2022, the average safflower seed export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 1.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a deep slump. In 2022, overseas purchases of safflower seed decreased by -42.1% to X tons, falling for the fourth consecutive year after five years of growth. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, safflower seed imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 57%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
