Switzerland (X tons), France (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main destinations of sesame oil exports from Germany, with a combined 42% share of total exports. Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, the UK, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +29.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +31.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. France, Taiwan (Chinese), China, the United States, the Czech Republic, South Korea, India, Japan, Singapore and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +143.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
