France (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main destinations of sorghum exports from Germany, with a combined 91% share of total exports. The Netherlands, Croatia, Switzerland and Luxembourg lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.2%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Luxembourg (with a CAGR of +105.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, imports of sorghum into Germany rose significantly to X tons, surging by 6.6% on the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 70% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sorghum imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
France (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Romania (X tons) were the main suppliers of sorghum imports to Germany, together comprising 54% of total imports. Hungary, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Italy and Argentina lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 44%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Ukraine (with a CAGR of +263.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), Hungary ($X) and Romania ($X) appeared to be the largest sorghum suppliers to Germany, together comprising 53% of total imports. The average sorghum import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 13% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sorghum import price increased by +44.6% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 90%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
