In 2021, the German synthetic gemstones market increased by 28% to $X, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, Switzerland, China, Hong Kong SAR, Thailand, Taiwan (Chinese) and Poland, which together accounted for a further 37%.

Overall, imports showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 65%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, synthetic gemstones imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia (X tons), China (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of synthetic gemstones imports to Germany, with a combined 78% share of total imports.
