The Netherlands (X litres), Switzerland (X litres) and France (X litres) were the main destinations of non-mineral or non-aerated water exports from Germany, with a combined 61% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Austria, Denmark, Spain, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Portugal, Poland, the United States and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 30%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +87.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 43%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X litres. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports dropped slightly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The Czech Republic (X litres), Turkey (X litres) and Spain (X litres) were the main suppliers of non-mineral or non-aerated water imports to Germany, together accounting for 81% of total imports. Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Poland and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 15%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +80.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
