Video Projector Market Size in Germany

In 2021, the German video projector market increased by 19% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, video projector production surged to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, the total production indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, production reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

After five years of growth, overseas shipments of video projectors decreased by -1.3% to X units in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted a tangible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 68% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, video projector exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Switzerland (X units), France (X units) and Austria (X units) were the main destinations of video projector exports from Germany, together comprising 0.9% of total exports. The Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, the United States, Luxembourg, the UK and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 0.8%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the United States (with a CAGR of -12.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, the largest markets for video projector exported from Germany were Switzerland ($X), France ($X) and Austria ($X), together accounting for 1.3% of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Italy, the United States, Spain, Luxembourg, Poland, Denmark, the UK, the United Arab Emirates and Sweden, which together accounted for a further 1.1%.

Among the main countries of destination, Luxembourg, with a CAGR of -2.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In 2021, the average video projector export price amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 7.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Germany

For the sixth consecutive year, Germany recorded growth in purchases abroad of video projectors, which increased by 1% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +98.8% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 53% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, the Netherlands (X units) constituted the largest video projector supplier to Germany, with a 2.8% share of total imports. Moreover, video projector imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X units), threefold. The Czech Republic (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 0.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the Netherlands totaled +5.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (-1.4% per year) and the Czech Republic (+7.8% per year).

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of video projectors to Germany, comprising 4.4% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 1.4% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 1.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the Netherlands stood at +5.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+9.5% per year) and the Czech Republic (+9.5% per year).

The average video projector import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 6.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a noticeable decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
