The German mobile phone market declined to $X in 2022, waning by -5.9% against the previous year. Italy (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) were the main destinations of mobile phone exports from Germany, with a combined 32% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates, Austria, Poland, France, Sweden, Serbia, Lithuania, Switzerland, Spain and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 48%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Serbia (with a CAGR of +72.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for mobile phone exported from Germany were Italy ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), together comprising 33% of total exports. The United Arab Emirates, Austria, Poland, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Lithuania, Spain, Hungary and Serbia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 46%.
Serbia, with a CAGR of +53.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average mobile phone export price amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -31.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted measured growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 39%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Germany
In 2022, imports of mobile phones into Germany surged to X units, picking up by 37% against the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mobile phone imports fell to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of mobile phone to Germany, with a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, mobile phone imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Vietnam (X units), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+8.8% per year) and Vietnam (-7.5% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of mobile phones to Germany, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Vietnam, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +4.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+14.5% per year) and Vietnam (-2.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average mobile phone import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -33.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell markedly in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from India ($X per unit) and the Czech Republic ($X per unit), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per unit) and China ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
