Romania (X tons), Finland (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of man-made filament yarn exports from Germany, together comprising 46% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Finland (with a CAGR of +55.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for man-made filament yarn exported from Germany were Romania ($X), Spain ($X) and Mexico ($X), together accounting for 41% of total exports. The average man-made filament yarn export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -7.5% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 21% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then declined in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, after four years of decline, there was growth in purchases abroad of man-made filament yarn, when their volume increased by 3.5% to X tons. In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, man-made filament yarn imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced descent. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of man-made filament yarn imports to Germany, with a combined 76% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +82.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Italy ($X) appeared to be the largest man-made filament yarn suppliers to Germany, together accounting for 65% of total imports. Belgium, France, Switzerland, the UK and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.
