Togo (X units), Guinea (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main destinations of glass bottle, jar and container exports from Ghana, with a combined 92% share of total exports. Liberia, Canada, Mali, the United Arab Emirates, Sierra Leone, Cameroon and Nigeria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 5.4%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Canada (with a CAGR of -1.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Togo amounted to -14.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Guinea (-5.9% per year) and Liberia (-20.6% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 121%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, glass bottle, jar and container imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 113% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Nigeria (X units) constituted the largest glass bottle, jar and container supplier to Ghana, with a 51% share of total imports. China (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.
