In 2022, imports of ceramic statuettes and other ornamental articles into Ghana contracted significantly to X tons, declining by -50.1% compared with 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate mild growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 349%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, ceramic statuette imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 510% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest ceramic statuette supplier to Ghana, with a 71% share of total imports. Moreover, ceramic statuette imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Netherlands (X kg), with a 5.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +3.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+57.0% per year) and the Netherlands (+139.9% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ceramic statuettes and other ornamental articles to Ghana, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 4.9% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 3.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +15.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+57.5% per year) and the Netherlands (+132.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average ceramic statuette import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 86% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
