In value terms, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 3,384% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

Niger (X tons) and Togo (X tons) were the main destinations of crispbread, rusk and toasted bread exports from Ghana.

In 2022, Thailand (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of crispbread, rusk and toasted bread to Ghana, accounting for a 49% share of total imports. Moreover, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread imports from Thailand exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Malaysia (X tons), eightfold. Indonesia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.8% share.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) constituted the largest supplier of crispbread, rusks and toasted bread to Ghana, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 7.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 5.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Thailand totaled -5.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+15.0% per year) and Egypt (+0.5% per year).

In 2022, the average import price for crispbread, rusks and toasted bread amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -2.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 47%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
