Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, folding boxboard imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 216% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, the UK (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of folding boxboard to Ghana, with a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, folding boxboard imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Indonesia (X tons), sixfold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 3.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the UK totaled +135.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+5.7% per year) and China (-4.1% per year).
