In general, imports showed prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 339%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, imines imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 279%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2021, India (X tons) was the main imines supplier to Ghana, accounting for a 93% share of total imports. Moreover, imines imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Netherlands (X tons), with a 1.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from India amounted to +21.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+10.6% per year) and the Netherlands (+15.4% per year).

In value terms, India ($X) constituted the largest supplier of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof to Ghana, comprising 88% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 4.6% share of total imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 3.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from India amounted to +17.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+47.2% per year) and the UK (-19.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average imines import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 3.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 18%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+33.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
