From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Sweden (with a CAGR of +7.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Nigeria ($X) remains the key foreign market for instruments and apparatus for measuring or checking pressure of liquids or gasses exports from Ghana, comprising 36% of total exports. Imports into Ghana
In 2021, overseas purchases of instruments and apparatus for measuring or checking pressure of liquids or gasses decreased by -13.1% to X units, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 197%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, test and measurement imports contracted significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 98%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
China (X units), Germany (X units) and South Korea (X units) were the main suppliers of test and measurement imports to Ghana, with a combined 36% share of total imports. Italy, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, India, the United States, Lebanon, Congo and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Congo (with a CAGR of +157.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), the United States ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest test and measurement suppliers to Ghana, with a combined 36% share of total imports. South Africa, India, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, South Korea, Congo, Italy and Lebanon lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
Congo, with a CAGR of +156.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average test and measurement import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -21.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 87%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for Lebanon ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Congo (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
