In 2022, solid-liquid separator exports from Ghana expanded modestly to X units, picking up by 3% on 2021 figures. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 272% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, solid-liquid separator exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 187%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Guinea (X units), Niger (X units) and Angola (X units) were the main destinations of solid-liquid separator exports from Ghana, together comprising 74% of total exports. These countries were followed by Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso and Cameroon, which together accounted for a further 23%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Togo (with a CAGR of +14.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Guinea ($X) remains the key foreign market for machinery for solid-liquid separation exports from Ghana, comprising 46% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Angola ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Niger, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Guinea totaled -1.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Angola (-3.1% per year) and Niger (+3.5% per year).

The average solid-liquid separator export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 89% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Angola ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Togo (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, overseas purchases of machinery for solid-liquid separation decreased by -18.6% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a perceptible expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 121%. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, solid-liquid separator imports contracted rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 82% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest solid-liquid separator supplier to Ghana, accounting for a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, solid-liquid separator imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X units), twofold. Congo (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +13.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+13.0% per year) and Congo (-2.8% per year).

In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of machinery for solid-liquid separation to Ghana, comprising 41% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 6.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from the United States stood at +16.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+23.9% per year) and the UK (+0.4% per year).

In 2022, the average solid-liquid separator import price amounted to $X per thousand units, reducing by -4.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 73% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per thousand units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per thousand units), while the price for China ($X per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+17.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
