Mixed Juices Market Size in Ghana

The Ghanian mixed juices market shrank to $X in 2022, which is down by -11.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Mixed juices consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mixed juices production shrank to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Ghana

In 2022, approx. X tons of mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices were exported from Ghana; picking up by 6.5% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 89% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mixed juices exports dropped slightly to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw temperate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Burkina Faso (X tons), Nigeria (X tons) and Togo (X tons) were the main destinations of mixed juices exports from Ghana, together comprising 87% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Nigeria (with a CAGR of +69.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Burkina Faso ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices exports from Ghana, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Nigeria ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Mali, with a 6.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Burkina Faso amounted to +10.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Nigeria (+33.3% per year) and Mali (+25.5% per year).

In 2022, the average mixed juices export price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a noticeable shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 25%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Benin ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Togo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mali (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, purchases abroad of mixtures of fruit and vegetable juices decreased by -9.6% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 172% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, mixed juices imports dropped to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded measured growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 180%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Imports by Country

South Africa (X tons), Spain (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of mixed juices imports to Ghana, together accounting for 55% of total imports. Belgium, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Nigeria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 11%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Nigeria (with a CAGR of +51.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest mixed juices suppliers to Ghana were South Africa ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Spain ($X), together comprising 52% of total imports. Belgium, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.

Nigeria, with a CAGR of +48.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average mixed juices import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, mixed juices import price increased by +13.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+14.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
