Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, pineapple exports contracted modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 79%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

France (X tons), Morocco (X tons) and Switzerland (X tons) were the main destinations of pineapple exports from Ghana, together accounting for 48% of total exports.

In 2022, purchases abroad of pineapples decreased by -16.3% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, imports showed a sharp downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 423%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, pineapple imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 452%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) was the main supplier of pineapple to Ghana, accounting for a 95% share of total imports. Moreover, pineapple imports from Cote d'Ivoire exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Togo (X kg), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Cote d'Ivoire amounted to -23.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Togo (-31.7% per year) and Benin (-13.5% per year).

In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X) constituted the largest supplier of pineapples to Ghana, comprising 97% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Togo ($X), with a 2.3% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Cote d'Ivoire totaled -9.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Togo (-27.1% per year) and Benin (-20.5% per year).
