The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Togo (X tons) was the main destination for poultry exports from Ghana, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, poultry exports to Togo exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Togo stood at X%.
In value terms, Togo ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X) were the largest markets for poultry exported from Ghana worldwide.

In 2022, the average poultry export price amounted to $X per ton, falling by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted noticeable growth. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Togo totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Togo (X%).

Imports into Ghana
After five years of growth, overseas purchases of poultry decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, poultry imports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of poultry imports to Ghana, together accounting for X% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest poultry suppliers to Ghana were the Netherlands ($X), the United States ($X) and Brazil ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports. Poland, the UK, Belgium and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Brazil ($X per ton) and the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) and Belgium ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
