Aircraft Propeller Market Size in Ghana

The Ghanian aircraft propeller market declined modestly to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -1.7% against the previous year. Exports from Ghana

In 2022, shipments abroad of propellers and rotors for civil non-powered aircraft, helicopters and aeroplanes was finally on the rise to reach X kg for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, faced a sharp reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 4,937%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft propeller exports totaled $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a sharp reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 7,001%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The United States (X kg), Nigeria (X kg) and South Africa (X kg) were the main destinations of aircraft propeller exports from Ghana, together comprising 96% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the United States (with a CAGR of -23.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for propellers and rotors for civil non-powered aircraft, helicopters and aeroplanes exports from Ghana, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Africa ($X), with a 5% share of total exports. It was followed by Nigeria, with a 1.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States totaled -19.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Africa (-25.2% per year) and Nigeria (-35.8% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+34.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Ghana

In 2022, aircraft propeller imports into Ghana shrank dramatically to X kg, which is down by -43.2% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, posted a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 1,448%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aircraft propeller imports fell significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 1,930% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Spain (X kg) constituted the largest supplier of aircraft propeller to Ghana, accounting for a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, aircraft propeller imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X kg), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Portugal (X kg), with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Spain amounted to +83.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+19.6% per year) and Portugal (+43.1% per year).

In value terms, Spain ($X) constituted the largest supplier of propellers and rotors for civil non-powered aircraft, helicopters and aeroplanes to Ghana, comprising 89% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 3.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Portugal, with a 0.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Spain totaled +113.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+19.0% per year) and Portugal (+26.8% per year).
