Overall, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 250% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
In value terms, recovered fibre pulp imports shrank notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 982%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Togo (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main suppliers of recovered fibre pulp imports to Ghana, together accounting for 100% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +155.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of recovered fibre pulp to Ghana, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the UK ($X), with a 27% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to +29.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+148.7% per year) and Togo (-5.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average recovered fibre pulp import price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -12.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 210%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Togo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (-2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
