Cote d'Ivoire (X units) was the main destination for safety headgear exports from Ghana, with a 82% share of total exports. Moreover, safety headgear exports to Cote d'Ivoire exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Sierra Leone (X units), more than tenfold. Togo (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 2.6% share.

In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X) remains the key foreign market for safety headgear exports from Ghana, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 7.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Togo, with a 3.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Cote d'Ivoire amounted to +22.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (-15.4% per year) and Togo (-29.2% per year).

In 2021, the average safety headgear export price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, faced a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 32%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, safety headgear imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 243% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest safety headgear supplier to Ghana, with a 82% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic (X units), with a 2.7% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 1.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +15.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+200.6% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+4.7% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of safety headgear to Ghana, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by the UK, with a 1.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +11.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+143.5% per year) and the UK (-5.7% per year).
