The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) was the main destination for vegetable exports from Ghana, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, vegetable exports to Cote d'Ivoire exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the UK (X tons), fourfold. Burkina Faso (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Cote d'Ivoire totaled X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (X% per year) and Burkina Faso (X% per year).
In value terms, the UK ($X) remains the key foreign market for vegetables exports from Ghana, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to the UK totaled X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Cote d'Ivoire (X% per year) and the Netherlands (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average vegetable export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by X%. Imports into Ghana
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of vegetables decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, vegetable imports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Niger (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of vegetable to Ghana, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, vegetable imports from Niger exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Netherlands (X tons), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Niger stood at X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (X% per year) and the Netherlands (X% per year).
