In 2021, the Ghanian wooden office furniture market increased by 32% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, the total consumption indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine-year period. For the third year in a row, Ghana recorded decline in overseas shipments of wooden furniture of a kind used in offices, which decreased by -16.9% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a significant curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wooden office furniture exports shrank markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a precipitous setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The Netherlands (X units), the Philippines (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main destinations of wooden office furniture exports from Ghana, together accounting for 50% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Philippines (with a CAGR of +27.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, the largest markets for wooden office furniture exported from Ghana were the Netherlands ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Togo ($X), together comprising 55% of total exports.

In 2021, purchases abroad of wooden furniture of a kind used in offices increased by 14% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wooden office furniture imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last nine-year period. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +9.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+21.1% per year) and Turkey (+6.3% per year).
