The global beer market fell modestly to $X in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 3.8% against the previous year. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 8.4%. Over the period under review, the global exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, beer exports declined slightly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 9.9% against the previous year. The global exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.

In 2022, Mexico (X tons), distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented the main exporters of beer, together mixing up 54% of total exports. The Czech Republic (X tons), China (X tons), the UK (X tons), Ireland (X tons), France (X tons), the United States (X tons), Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Spain (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to beer exports from Mexico stood at +5.3%. At the same time, Spain (+11.7%), China (+7.7%), Italy (+6.5%), Poland (+6.0%), the Czech Republic (+4.7%), Ireland (+2.5%) and Belgium (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Spain emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +11.7% from 2012-2022. The Netherlands, the United States and Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, France (-1.6%) and the UK (-1.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Mexico increased by +7.3 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest beer supplier worldwide, comprising 33% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 12% share of global exports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 10% share.

In Mexico, beer exports expanded at an average annual rate of +10.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+0.2% per year) and Belgium (+2.0% per year).

The average beer export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. At the same time, China (+15.9%), South Korea (+13.8%), Ireland (+10.1%), Spain (+4.9%), the Netherlands (+4.4%), France (+2.1%), Russia (+2.1%) and Italy (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, China emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +15.9% from 2012-2022. The UK experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Germany (-1.2%), Australia (-1.4%) and Canada (-2.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of China and the United States increased by +2 and +2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported beer worldwide, comprising 39% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 5.9% share of global imports. It was followed by China, with a 3.8% share.
