Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Thailand (+38.3%), Papua New Guinea (+14.6%), Turkey (+3.0%), Japan (+2.5%), Germany (+1.6%) and Spain (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +38.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, South Korea (-8.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China and Thailand increased by +16 and +2.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest transporter and bridge cranes supplier worldwide, comprising 64% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 7.2% share of global exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 5.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+1.8% per year) and Japan (+2.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average transporter and bridge cranes export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the export price saw a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while South Korea ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of transporter cranes, gantry cranes and bridge cranes decreased by -7.1% to X units, falling for the fifth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of global imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, transporter and bridge cranes imports declined to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Global imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Singapore (X units), followed by South Korea (X units), the United States (X units), India (X units) and Turkey (X units) were the major importers of transporter cranes, gantry cranes and bridge cranes, together comprising 45% of total imports. Vietnam (X units), Indonesia (X units), Qatar (X units), the UK (X units), Canada (X units), Italy (X units), Germany (X units) and Thailand (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Italy (with a CAGR of +49.1%), while imports for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X), the United States ($X) and South Korea ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 40% of global imports. India, Vietnam, Turkey, Canada, Italy, the UK, Thailand, Qatar, Indonesia and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.
Among the main importing countries, Italy, with a CAGR of +43.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average transporter and bridge cranes import price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 4.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 6.1% against the previous year.
