The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 47%. In 2022, the United States (X tons), distantly followed by Japan (X tons), Germany (X tons), China (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Qatar (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) represented the major exporters of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons, together comprising 87% of total exports.

The United States experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons. At the same time, Qatar (+20.5%), Belgium (+9.6%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+8.6%), Japan (+6.1%), Saudi Arabia (+6.1%), China (+5.8%), South Korea (+4.0%), Indonesia (+3.1%) and Germany (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Qatar emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +20.5% from 2012-2022. Qatar (+5.9 p.p.), Belgium (+2.9 p.p.), Japan (+1.9 p.p.) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global exports, while Germany and the United States saw its share reduced by -2.4% and -9.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest halogenated hydrocarbon derivative supplying countries worldwide were China ($X), the United States ($X) and Japan ($X), together accounting for 54% of global exports. Germany, Belgium, Indonesia, South Korea, Qatar, Taiwan (Chinese) and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.

Qatar, with a CAGR of +40.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average halogenated hydrocarbon derivative export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 35% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, global imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
