Over the period under review, the global exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, the United States (X tons) represented the main exporter of hazelnuts, constituting 52% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Georgia (X tons), Spain (X tons) and France (X tons), together making up a 29% share of total exports. The following exporters - Poland (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) - together made up 10% of total exports.
Exports from the United States decreased at an average annual rate of -2.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+44.2%), Spain (+36.6%), Azerbaijan (+34.3%), Georgia (+15.6%), Turkey (+2.9%) and France (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +44.2% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Georgia, Spain, the United States, Poland, France, Azerbaijan and Turkey increased by +12, +6.6, +4.6, +4, +2.4, +2.2 and +1.8 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest hazelnut importing markets worldwide were Vietnam ($X), Canada ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 67% share of global imports.
