The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +63.6% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined modestly in the following year.

In value terms, hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes exports expanded slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +59.2% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

China (X tons) and Ireland (X tons) represented roughly 59% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Argentina (X tons) and the United States (X tons), together achieving a 12% share of total exports. Denmark (X tons), Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons), India (X tons), Belgium (X tons), France (X tons), Mexico (X tons) and Germany (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Argentina (with a CAGR of +33.0%), while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Ireland ($X) remains the largest hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes supplier worldwide, comprising 29% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 10% share of global exports. It was followed by Denmark, with an 8.6% share.
