These countries were followed by Taiwan (Chinese), Austria, Turkey and the Netherlands, which together accounted for a further 18%.
Among the main exporting countries, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +17.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average machine-tool for working wood export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 2.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 3.2%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Global imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

The Netherlands was the major importing country with an import of around X tons, which accounted for 37% of total imports. The United States (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 9.6% share, followed by Germany (5.1%) and Nigeria (4.6%). The following importers - Russia (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Canada (X tons), France (X tons), Italy (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Austria (X tons) - together made up 15% of total imports.
Imports into the Netherlands increased at an average annual rate of +15.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Nigeria (+45.0%), Belgium (+15.4%), the United States (+8.7%), Canada (+7.3%), Austria (+6.6%), Germany (+6.1%), Italy (+4.9%), France (+4.8%) and the UK (+4.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Nigeria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +45.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Russia (-2.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+18 p.p.) and Nigeria (+4.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -4.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported machine-tools for working wood worldwide, comprising 18% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 6.5% share of global imports. It was followed by Russia, with a 5.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United States amounted to +8.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+7.2% per year) and Russia (-5.8% per year).
