In value terms, Japan ($X), Germany ($X) and Indonesia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 72% share of global exports. China and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 8.8%.
South Korea, with a CAGR of +10.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average piano export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 3.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 4.4%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the pianos and other keyboard stringed musical instruments imports, with a CAGR of +18.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Netherlands (+5.7%), Italy (+3.8%), the United States (+2.0%) and Australia (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Canada experienced a relatively flat trend pattern.
