After two years of decline, the global plain postcard market increased by 26% to $X in 2021. In general, the total consumption indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine-year period. In value terms, plain postcard exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a pronounced contraction. The global exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X tons) and the United States (X tons) represented roughly 49% of total exports in 2021. India (X tons) held a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Spain (5.7%). Germany (X tons), the UK (X tons), Mexico (X tons), France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +36.3%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest plain postcard supplying countries worldwide were China ($X), the United States ($X) and France ($X), together comprising 43% of global exports. The UK, Germany, the Netherlands, India, Spain, Malaysia, the Czech Republic and Mexico lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

India, with a CAGR of +40.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average plain postcard export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -1.7% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The global export price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 6% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of global imports remained at a lower figure.
