In 2021, the global pump for liquid market decreased by -3.3% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +59.0% against 2015 indices. Over the period under review, the global market reached the peak level at $X in 2020, and then fell in the following year.
Pump For Liquid Production
In value terms, pump for liquid production dropped to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the production volume increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global production reached the peak level at $X in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

After four years of growth, shipments abroad of pumps for liquids and liquid elevators decreased by -23.6% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 90%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, pump for liquid exports soared to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
China prevails in exports structure, accounting for X units, which was near 68% of total exports in 2021. Mexico (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Germany (X units). All these countries together took near 14% share of total exports. The following exporters - Italy (X units), Japan (X units) and Thailand (X units) - each amounted to a 5.6% share of total exports.
China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the pumps for liquids and liquid elevators exports, with a CAGR of +15.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Thailand (+14.4%) and Italy (+9.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Mexico, Japan and Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China increased by +24 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest pump for liquid supplying countries worldwide were Germany ($X), China ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 39% share of global exports.
China, with a CAGR of +7.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average pump for liquid export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 53% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep setback. The global export price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+4.2%), while the other global leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Pump For Liquid Imports
Imports
After nine years of growth, supplies from abroad of pumps for liquids and liquid elevators decreased by -5.4% to X units in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, pump for liquid imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
The United States represented the major importer of pumps for liquids and liquid elevators in the world, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was near 27% of total imports in 2021. Mexico (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Thailand (X units) and Germany (X units). All these countries together held approx. 19% share of total imports. The following importers - Turkey (X units), the UK (X units), Canada (X units), Indonesia (X units), Hungary (X units), Japan (X units), South Korea (X units), Colombia (X units) and France (X units) - together made up 25% of total imports.
Imports into the United States increased at an average annual rate of +24.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Colombia (+28.8%), Hungary (+28.2%), Mexico (+20.4%), Thailand (+17.1%), Turkey (+11.5%), Canada (+10.6%), South Korea (+7.1%), France (+6.5%), Germany (+3.3%), Indonesia (+3.1%), Japan (+3.0%) and the UK (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Colombia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +28.8% from 2012-2021. The United States (+18 p.p.), Mexico (+3.9 p.p.), Thailand (+2.5 p.p.), Hungary (+1.8 p.p.) and Colombia (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Japan, Indonesia, the UK and Germany saw its share reduced by -2.1%, -2.3%, -3.9% and -4.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported pumps for liquids and liquid elevators worldwide, comprising 15% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 7% share of global imports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 3.3% share.
In the United States, pump for liquid imports increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (+2.2% per year) and Mexico (+1.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average pump for liquid import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, jumping by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a deep contraction. Global import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
