Germany represented the major importer of sour cherries in the world, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 29% of total imports in 2022. Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +68.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Russia (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Bosnia and Herzegovina (+7.3 p.p.), Egypt (+5.1 p.p.), Romania (+4 p.p.), Palestine (+3.1 p.p.), the Netherlands (+1.9 p.p.), Bulgaria (+1.6 p.p.) and China (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-5.3 p.p.) and Germany (-11.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. In value terms, the largest sour cherry importing markets worldwide were Germany ($X), China ($X) and Russia ($X), with a combined 33% share of global imports. Egypt, the Netherlands, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Romania, Palestine, Austria and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.

Among the main importing countries, Egypt, with a CAGR of +43.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
