After two years of growth, the global television receiver market decreased by -0.5% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the global market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, overseas shipments of television receivers decreased by -10.8% to X units, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports recorded a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 12%. The global exports peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, television receiver exports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

China dominates exports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 52% of total exports in 2022. Mexico (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 9.2% share, followed by Vietnam (5.2%) and Poland (5%). Slovakia (X units), Hungary (X units), Turkey (X units), Thailand (X units), the United States (X units), Indonesia (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of television receivers. At the same time, Vietnam (+25.4%), Thailand (+1.9%) and Poland (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +25.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Hungary (-3.4%), Slovakia (-3.4%), the Czech Republic (-4.2%), Mexico (-5.1%), Turkey (-5.8%), Indonesia (-5.9%) and the United States (-7.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+10 p.p.) and Vietnam (+4.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2022, the share of Mexico (-4.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest television receiver supplying countries worldwide were China ($X), Mexico ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 58% share of global exports. Slovakia, Vietnam, Hungary, Indonesia, the United States, Turkey, Thailand and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +30.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average television receiver export price amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -6.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per unit), while the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Global television receiver imports declined to X units in 2022, with a decrease of -13.1% compared with the previous year. In general, imports saw a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 56%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of global imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, television receiver imports declined markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, global imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, the United States (X units), distantly followed by Russia (X units), Poland (X units) and the UK (X units) represented the key importers of television receivers, together comprising 31% of total imports. The following importers - France (X units), Italy (X units), Germany (X units), Mexico (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Slovakia (X units), Japan (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Spain (X units) - together made up 28% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to television receiver imports into the United States stood at -5.7%. At the same time, Poland (+7.7%), Slovakia (+6.8%), Russia (+2.3%) and Italy (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the world, with a CAGR of +7.7% from 2012-2022. Japan and France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported television receivers worldwide, comprising 27% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the UK ($X), with a 5.5% share of global imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 5.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United States stood at -5.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the UK (-1.3% per year) and Germany (-6.9% per year).

The average television receiver import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -3.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
