The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 11%. The global exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, textile wadding exports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons), distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), Turkey (X tons), India (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main exporters of wadding of textile materials and articles thereof, together comprising 40% of total exports. Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Poland (X tons), Japan (X tons), France (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Italy (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of wadding of textile materials and articles thereof. At the same time, Thailand (+13.4%), Bulgaria (+12.8%), India (+6.3%), Turkey (+5.8%), South Korea (+4.7%), the United States (+4.0%), Japan (+1.5%) and Poland (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +13.4% from 2012-2021. France and the Netherlands experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Germany (-3.3%) and Italy (-5.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Thailand and Bulgaria increased by +3.7 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest textile wadding supplier worldwide, comprising 15% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Netherlands ($X), with a 6.7% share of global exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 5.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +4.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (-1.6% per year) and Japan (+0.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average textile wadding export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 4.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 6.7%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+6.3%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 9%. Over the period under review, global imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

In value terms, textile wadding imports rose modestly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 5.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the seven major importers of wadding of textile materials and articles thereof, namely the United States, France, Japan, Russia, the UK, China and Germany, represented more than third of total import. The following importers - Canada (X tons), Mexico (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Spain (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) - each resulted at a 12% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Kyrgyzstan (with a CAGR of +22.5%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), China ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 20% of global imports.

The United States, with a CAGR of +6.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average textile wadding import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 3.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Global import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
