The Netherlands (X tons) was the main destination for artichoke exports from Greece, accounting for a 90% share of total exports. It was followed by Switzerland (X kg), with a 3% share of total exports. The third position in this ranking was held by Italy (X kg), with a 2.9% share.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 135% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Italy (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) were the main suppliers of artichoke imports to Greece, together accounting for 95% of total imports. Bulgaria, Germany and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 4.4%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +37.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average artichoke import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -10.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a modest increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 62%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+18.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
