Belgium (X tons) was the main destination for cereal germ exports from Greece, with a 61% share of total exports. Moreover, cereal germ exports to Belgium exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Cyprus (X tons), threefold. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Belgium stood at +53.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+34.4% per year) and Cyprus (+96.2% per year).

Imports into Greece
In 2021, the amount of cereal germ imported into Greece soared to X tons, growing by 58% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, faced a precipitous descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 157% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cereal germ imports reached $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 44%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

North Macedonia (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of cereal germ imports to Greece, with a combined 69% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +49.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) were the largest cereal germ suppliers to Greece, with a combined 64% share of total imports.
