The Greek other cereals market reduced rapidly to $X in 2021, waning by -15.7% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2020, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

Over the period under review, exports showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 1,050%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, other cereals exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 693%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Cyprus (X tons) was the main destination for other cereals exports from Greece, accounting for a 65% share of total exports. Moreover, other cereals exports to Cyprus exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bulgaria (X tons), fourfold. Italy (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Cyprus totaled +25.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bulgaria (+242.5% per year) and Italy (+80.3% per year).
In value terms, Cyprus ($X) remains the key foreign market for other cereals exports from Greece, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bulgaria ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by North Macedonia, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Cyprus totaled +30.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bulgaria (+236.9% per year) and North Macedonia (+57.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average other cereals export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 3.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average export price increased by 45% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Greece
In 2021, imports of other cerealses into Greece reached X tons, growing by 4.2% against 2020. Overall, imports showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 112%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, other cereals imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 93% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Bulgaria (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of other cereals to Greece, accounting for a 89% share of total imports. Moreover, other cereals imports from Bulgaria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Romania (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Bulgaria totaled +24.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Romania (+144.8% per year) and Italy (+61.4% per year).
In value terms, Bulgaria ($X) constituted the largest supplier of other cereals to Greece, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with an 8.5% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Bulgaria totaled +26.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+58.9% per year) and Romania (+82.4% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average other cereals import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 26% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, other cereals import price increased by +76.8% against 2016 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
